Police say Montgomery man molested girl while his wife was in labor
Authorities in Montgomery County have accused a man of molesting a 12-year-old girl while his wife was in labor.
A charging document says the girl twice locked herself in a bathroom, only to be attacked by Luis Perez-Giron, who ripped off her clothing. It says he was hiding in a closet before attacking her again, and threatened to rape her after she repeatedly fought him off.
The man’s lawyer says he denies the allegations. [ABC7]
Lightning strike causes Clarksburg house fire
Dozens of first responders arrived at the scene of a house fire in Clarksburg around 8 p.m. Thursday. A family of four was displaced from their home on Lynwood Farm Court, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue officials.
The damage to the home is estimated to be around $50,000. No injuries were reported and officials say the fire was caused by a lightning strike as a severe storm moved through the area. [WDVM]
Poll finds 94% of Maryland teachers buy their own school supplies
Results of a new poll, released Thursday, show 94% of Maryland teachers use their own money to buy classroom supplies, an increase from the year prior.
The poll also shows about half of all teachers across the state work second jobs. [WJLA]
