Pet-care brand Loyal Companion will open a store in Bethesda on Sept. 7, the sixth location in the county following the acquisition and rebranding of multiple stores in May.
Loyal Companion will take over the former Bradley Care Drugs space at 6900 Arlington Road, which closed in October 2017 due to competition from nearby pharmacies.
The company acquired several businesses in the pet-care industry earlier this year, then rebranded them as its own locations. Kriser’s, Especially For Pets, Bark! Dogma – Life, With Your Pet, Pet Source, Pet Life and Whole Pet Central are all under the Loyal Companion flag.
The Bark! at Congressional Plaza and the Whole Pet Central on East Gude Drive in Rockville both became Loyal Companions, and the company has locations in Gaithersburg, Silver Spring and Olney.
The Bethesda store will be the 24th Loyal Companion in the Washington region and 53rd overall, including locations in Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
“As a brand wholly focused on the wellness, safety and comfort of pets, we are excited to be opening this new store in order to better service pet families in the D.C. area,” Store Manager Sarah Manipady said in a statement.
The 4,633-square-foot space is part of the Bradley Shopping Center, next to sandwich shop Bradley Food and Beverage. The store will have all-natural pet food, various treatments and pet-care products.
Loyal Companion also provides services, including day care, training, nutrition and veterinarian care.
“We want Loyal Companion to be a place where pet families can learn, have fun and connect – all while having access to high-quality products and services,” Manipady said.
