An employee was dragged to the ground and assaulted by two people in early August, caught on surveillance video released by county police on Monday.

Two people approached Spring Beer & Wine at 9330 Georgia Ave. on Aug. 3 wearing face masks and armed with handguns. Their interaction with an employee lasts about a minute and 20 seconds, captured on a store camera.

An employee appears to be communicating with a customer at the front door when the two armed people burst through the entrance and sling him to the ground at the beginning of the video. The customer sprints from the scene.

A person in a light green jacket drags the employee to the front counter, flips him over and appears to check through his pockets. A second person dressed in all black grabs an item from the front counter and uses it to prop the front door open.

As the second person runs toward the back of the store, the employee attempts to get to his feet and is shoved back down by the first person, who stands over and near him for about 25 seconds. The person then reaches over the counter and grabs something, possibly reaching into the cash register.

The first person then goes to the back of the store and the second person comes to the front door, peering outside. The first person then sprints to the front door and both leave.

The employee remained motionless on the ground after being shoved down.

The two people fled in a dark-colored SUV driven by a third person, police said. They stole an undisclosed amount of money from the store.

Spring Beer & Wine did not immediately respond to a request for information on Monday about the employee’s condition.
