Dozens of animals removed from Montgomery home due to ‘poor conditions’
Officers from the Montgomery County Police Animal Services Division removed 59 dogs, three cats, and two turtles from a home in the 20400 block of Beallsville Road in Dickerson on Tuesday.
Officials say the investigation began after receiving a report of a dog who had been living at the residence was humanely euthanized because of “poor living conditions.” [FOX 5]
Montgomery County natives donate books to black children
Isaac Cudjoe and his friend Kevin Isabelle Peete started Brothers with Books earlier this year and have already donated more than 3,000 books, hoping to instill a love of reading in black and low-income children. [WUSA 9]
Montgomery Pay Equity Act takes effect
People who apply for county jobs will no longer have to report salary history or submit past pay stubs as part of the application process, thanks to the Pay Equity Act that went into effect Thursday.
County Council member Evan Glass says Maryland women make 79 cents for every dollar a Maryland man makes. The goal of the Pay Equity Act, legislation Glass sponsored, is to close the pay gap by preventing prejudicial salary decisions. [WDVM]
