Montgomery County Agricultural Fair — Friday and Saturday — Montgomery County Agricultural Center

The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair will continue through Friday and Saturday. The Montgomery County Agricultural Center in Gaithersburg is hosting the event, which features more than 50 buildings filled with more than 5,000 animals. The fair has entertainment, food, exhibits and other family activities.

General admission is $15 at the gate, $12 online. Children under 11 years old are admitted free. Groups of 15 people or more pay $9 a person.

Free Family Activities — Saturday and Sunday — Glen Echo Park

The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture is offering a variety of free weekend activities, including face painting, photo opportunities with carousel cutouts and a misting tent. On Sunday, there will be a climbing wall and an inflatable carousel by the park playground. The activities are taking place as the park’s historic carousel undergoes major repairs until the spring of 2020. The activities run from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. both days.

Street Car Special Exhibits — Saturday and Sunday — National Capital Trolley Museum

The National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville is presenting two special exhibits on street cars in the Civil War and Gilded Age periods on consecutive weekends Aug. 17-18 and Aug. 24-25. The exhibit runs noon to 5 p.m. both days. Museum admission is $10 for adults ages 18 to 64 and $8 for children ages 2 to 17 and for senior citizens over 65.

Paella Class — Sunday — La Tasca Rockville

La Tasca’s Rockville location is offering a Paella-making class, in which participants can learn how to make the traditional Spanish dish from expert chefs. The class includes appetizers, a brief history of paella, a cooking session, sangria, a tapas buffet and dessert. The event is from noon to 3 p.m. and tickets are $75. Advance reservations are required and can be made here.
