Locavino Arrives this Weekend
Wine café Locavino will fully open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, with several tastings and plenty of local beer and wine.
The Silver Spring restaurant will focus on products from Maryland and the surrounding states, with some international items mixed in, co-owner Jarrod Jabre said.
“Our vision is all our wines should be local to someone,” Jabre said. “Wines that have a background behind them, beyond the label on the front.”
Locavino has hosted small events during the week for friends and family in an effort to prepare for the grand opening this weekend. Jabre and co-owner Justin Wallace will welcome donors from their successful Kickstarter fundraising campaign for a special event on Friday.
The restaurant raised $15,500 through the online portal, exceeding the goal of $10,000.
Locavino has dining space surrounding by cases and racks of wine, along with an alcove of tables and a small bar ledge for intimate gatherings.
The restaurant’s menu includes sandwiches, burgers and pasta, among other items. Locavino has the capacity for more than 200 wines.
Tea company coming to Germantown
Chinese tea company August 32 is coming to a Germantown shopping center.
The company recently placed a sign on its future domain announcing its arrival.
August 32 will have tea and tea-related products, with a commitment to “let more people know and understand the Chinese tea,” the sign reads.
The Century Boulevard space is next to Cold Stone Creamery.

National Rosé Month at the Canopy by Hilton
The Canopy by Hilton in North Bethesda is celebrating National Rosé Month with $5 glasses every day in August from noon to 7 p.m.
The hotel at Pike & Rose has updated its rooftop area as the seasons have changed, including a skating rink in the winter months and now an outdoor space with giant Jenga, Connect 4 and cornhole.
The menu has also kept up with the weather, as rosé represents summer, sunshine and outdoor dining, according to a Canopy by Hilton news release.
Rosé wine is typically pink, somewhere between white and red wine. The color comes from minimal contact with the skin of the grapes used to make it.
