Montgomery County Agricultural Fair – Friday, Saturday and Sunday – Montgomery County Agricultural Center

Montgomery County’s annual fair kicks off Friday afternoon and will be open each day through Aug. 17. The Montgomery County Agricultural Center in Gaithersburg will host the event, which features more than 50 buildings filled with more than 5,000 animals. The fair has entertainment, food and exhibits, among other family activities.

General admission is $15 at the gate, $12 online. Children under 11 years old are admitted free. Groups of 15 people or more pay $9 a person.

Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band – Friday – AMP by Strathmore

The Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band, a 13-piece orchestra, will perform at AMP by Strathmore in North Bethesda on Friday. The band’s style features West African beats and American popular music. Tickets are between $22 and $29.

Jamison Ross and Carol Riddick – Saturday – Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club

Vocalist and drummer Jamison Ross will perform with songstress-songwriter Carol Riddick at the Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club on Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are between $35 and $45. A $20 food and beverage minimum is not included in the ticket price.

Community Open Mic Night – Friday – Sandy Spring Museum

Residents can reserve a spot online or sign up in person to perform at the Sandy Spring Museum on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The museum provides all necessary equipment, including microphones, speakers and a soundboard. A $5 donation is suggested.
