Stabbing reported near Gaithersburg shopping center

Montgomery County Police say a victim was stabbed and three others were injured near a Gaithersburg shopping center Thursday. They say the incident occurred near the intersection of Rothbury Drive and Goshen Road around 3 p.m. Two people were taken to the hospital. Police say a suspect is in custody but they are still investigating [WTOP].

Celebration of life planned for bike crash victim

A celebration of life has been planned in honor of Jake Cassell, the 17-year-old who was killed Aug. 1 when he lost control of his bike while riding on the sidewalk along Old Georgetown Road and was hit by a car. The celebration is taking place Friday at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. [WJLA].

Gaithersburg officials to discuss construction of new elementary school

Officials from the City of Gaithersburg will meet Monday to discuss the possibility of building a new elementary school in Kelley Park, with the goal of relieving school crowding. The proposal has been met with protests from nearby residents. [MCM]
