A portion of East West Highway in Chevy Chase remained closed through the Friday rush hour due to a water main break, according to county officials.
The break that occurred Thursday afternoon washed away part of the road at Connecticut Ave and Jones Mill Road, closing all lanes in both directions, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Spokesman Pete Piringer.
No injuries were reported, Piringer said.
The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission said in a Twitter post Friday morning the water main was repaired but it was unclear if road repairs would impact the evening rush hour.
