Gaithersburg City Council to discuss regulations for short-term rentals Monday

The Gaithersburg City Council will discuss a series of amendments aimed at regulating short-term rentals at its meeting Monday night. Short-term rentals are those that are typically rented out for less than 30 days. Among the amendments being considered is the implementation of a hotel rental tax for hotels with 10 rooms or fewer. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at city hall at 31 South Summit Ave, Gaithersburg.

Police to hold events for National Night Out Tuesday

The Montgomery County Police Department is hosting events Tuesday in honor of National Night Out – an annual event in which officers meet with neighbors to improve police-community relations. Visit www.mymcpnews.com for a complete list of events.

County to hold civil rights film screening and panel discussion

The Montgomery County Office of Human Rights will hold a screening of three films focused on the history of race in America Wednesday night. The films include “This Little Light of Mine, The Legacy of Fannie Lou Hamer,”An Outrage, Lynching in the American South” andLynching in America, Confronting the legacy of racial terror.” A panel discussion will follow. The event begins at 6:45 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Center at 1 Veterans Place.
