Potomac bus crash injures 14 children

A bus carrying 48 kids on River Road collided with a work truck Tuesday morning. The incident injured 14 school-age children. The kids were taken to a hospital but their injuries weren’t considered serious.  [Washington Post]

Crash temporarily closes Urban Bar-B-Que in Rockville

A van crashed into Urban Bar-B-Que on Tuesday afternoon, shutting down the restaurant for the evening. Two people had to be extricated from the vehicle, but no one was injured in the incident, including the people in the restaurant. The damage was described as “cosmetic” by county fire and rescue spokesman Pete Piringer, and Urban Bar-B-Que is expected to reopen on Wednesday.  [WTOP]

Sinkhole closes road in Boyds

A sinkhole described by Montgomery County police on Twitter as a “2 foot wide portal to the underworld” will close the 19600 block of Bucklodge Road in the Boyds for 24 hours. No one was injured by the eroded roadway.  [Washington Post]

New clock in Gaithersburg park dedicated to Katz family

The timepiece at History Park was dedicated to the legacy of Leonard Katz and Sara Wolfson Katz, who ran the community store Wolfson’s for a large chunk of its 95-year tenure. Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman called the couple “an integral part of the Gaithersburg community.” Leonard and Sara are the parents of County Council Vice President and former Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz. Former megachurch pastor no longer Christian

Joshua Harris, a former pastor at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg, said he’s “not a Christian” and has renounced his best-selling premarital purity book “I Kissed Dating Goodbye.” Harris quit as pastor of Covenant Life in 2015.
