County firefighter fights off ambulance hijacker

Christopher Broadus, 27, of Washington, D.C., attempted to steal a county ambulance outside Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, but was stopped by a Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service firefighter, authorities said. Broadus was charged with first-degree assault and attempted armed carjacking. The incident was first reported by ABC7 on Twitter.  [WDVM]

Pair of local state senators among Biden endorsers

Former Vice President Joe Biden and leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for president announced 29 endorsements on Monday. Among those pledging their favor for Biden were Democratic state Sens. Nancy King and Brian Feldman, both representing Montgomery County.  [Baltimore Sun]

Montgomery County looking to add material recovery facility

Montgomery County has made a Request for Industrial Real Estate and Facilities, which would add to its two current recycling facilities. The two present units are more than three decades old and were meant to handle 80 tons of commingled materials per day, but face up to 170 tons per day at times.  [Recycling Today]
