Public Service Commission to hold public hearing on possible rate hikes
The Maryland Public Service Commission, a government agency that regulates utilities, will hold a public hearing Monday night in the County Council Office Building on a possible fee increase for customers of Washington Gas Light Company. According to a press release, a typical customer’s gas bill will increase 5.5%. Montgomery County is one of six counties in Maryland the utility serves. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at 100 Maryland Ave, Rockville.
County Council to consider budget amendments, county executive appointments Tuesday
The Montgomery County Council will consider a number of supplemental budget appropriations at its meeting Tuesday, including $4 million in the capital budget for planned bus rapid transit projects on the Veirs Mill Road and Md. 355 corridors.
The council will also vote on the confirmation of several appointments from County Executive Marc Elrich. Those appointments include Angela Talley as director of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation and Aseem Nigam as director of the Department of Housing and Community Affairs. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the council’s Rockville chamber at 100 Maryland Ave.
County Council committee to meet with business leaders Wednesday
The Montgomery County Council’s Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) committee will meet with business leaders Wednesday for a roundtable at the headquarters of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corp (MCEDC).
The roundtable is one of a series of meetings the PHED committee has had with the MCEDC to improve the county’s business climate. The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at 1801 Rockville Pike, suite 320, Rockville.
