Court dismisses Silver Spring third-party candidate’s case to get on 2018 ballot

Jerome Segal’s injunction to get his name on the 2018 ballot as a U.S. Senate candidate was formally dismissed Thursday in U.S. District Court. Segal, of Silver Spring, unsuccessfully challenged incumbent Sen. Ben Cardin in the Democratic primary, then attempted to run in the general election as a third-party candidate. He wasn’t allowed on the general election ballot because of a Maryland law that prevents defeated primary candidates from running in the general election [Maryland Matters].
