Sandwich chain Taylor Gourmet announced its triumphant return Thursday morning, with plans to bring back three shops this summer, including one in North Bethesda.
The company filed for bankruptcy in September, shuttering all 17 of its shops in the Washington region, according to published reports. This included two locations in Bethesda and one in Silver Spring.
Steve Kalifa of Source Cuisine purchased Taylor Gourmet in March, Washingtonian reported, with an eye on reopening by August.
Taylor Gourmet posted an “exclusive” alert on Facebook and Twitter on Thursday, linking to its website announcing select locations returning this summer, namely the Pike & Rose shop and two shops in Washington, D.C.
The restaurants, which serve a variety of hoagies and salads, will be slightly different, with less of a focus on seasonal offerings, but will have “all the hits on the menu,” Taylor Gourmet vice president and chief operating officer Brandon Dodrill said.
Dodrill added that while there are plans for future locations, the company will not necessarily come back to its vacant spaces. He declined to comment further on specific plans for upcoming shops or potential locations in Montgomery County.
Taylor Gourmet’s other Bethesda location, at Bethesda Row, was replaced by fast-casual Italian restaurant Prima in late May. The Silver Spring spot is currently occupied by Lebanese Taverna.
Federal Realty Investment Trust, which owns and operates Pike & Rose, declined to comment on Taylor Gourmet’s return.
The 1,792-square-foot space at 926 Rose Ave. opened in May 2018.
