Ledecky cleared to swim at world championships

Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky has been cleared by medical staff to return to competition in the world championships in South Korea. She is set to take part in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay final Thursday. Ledecky, a Bethesda native, had withdrawn from the competition Tuesday due to illness [Washington Post].

Montgomery County hits a record for affordable housing investment

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich announced Wednesday that the county had invested more than $100 million to expand affordable housing. It is the highest level of financing for affordable housing the county has achieved in 30 years [WDVM]

Gaithersburg commemorates 50th anniversary of lunar landing

The Gaithersburg Community Museum invited residents to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing. Kids pretended to be astronauts for the day, drink Tang and eat Moon Pies among other activities [WDVM]
