Montgomery County Police considers changes to use of force policy

The Montgomery County Police Department is considering revising its use of force policy by possibly adding a rule that requires officers to report signs of excessive force to their supervisor. Acting Chief Marcus Jones made the comment Tuesday during a County Council meeting [WTOP].

Montgomery County Republican Party denounces immigration executive order

The Montgomery County Republican Party has denounced an executive order signed by County Executive Marc Elrich on Monday that formally prohibits officials in executive branch departments from assisting federal immigration officials. Alexander Bush, the party chair, called the order “a political stunt” that is simply about opposing President Donald Trump [Washington Post].

Farm festival comes to Montgomery County this weekend

County residents will have a chance to tour 19 farms for free Saturday and Sunday as part of the 30th annual Montgomery County Farm Tour, held in upcounty agricultural areas. The event includes hay rides, farm animal petting and fresh produce [WTOP].
