Police Blotter: Attempted Armed Carjacking in Silver Spring; Burglaries at Two Bethesda Sports Clubs

Thefts from vehicles

Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles between June 29 and July 3. Thefts occurred on Potomac Station Lane, Avenel Farm and Turnberry drives, and Fernwood Road. No forced entry was reported.

Property was taken from a vehicle in the 3900 block of Kincaid Terrace between 8 p.m. June 24 and 7 a.m. June 28. No forced entry was reported.

Commercial burglaries

Money and property were taken from the Burning Tree Country Club at 8600 Burdette Ave. the morning of July 4. Forced entry was reported.

Money was taken from the Carderock Springs Swim and Tennis Club at 8200 Hamilton Spring Court between 9 p.m. July 3 and 6:20 a.m. July 4. Forced entry was reported.

Residential burglaries

Property was taken from a residence in the 4800 block of Chevy Chase Boulevard between midnight and 9 a.m. July 3. No forced entry was reported. A door was reportedly left unlocked.

Property was taken from a residence in the 4700 block of Willard Avenue between 2 and 10:16 p.m. July 4. No forced entry was reported.

Rockville

Thefts from vehicles

Property was taken from two vehicles on July 1 or 2. One theft occurred in the 2500 block of Lindley Terrace and the other in the 17100 block of Spates Hill Road. Forced entry was reported in the Lindley Terrace incident.

Parts were taken from four vehicles in the 8000 block of Gramercy Boulevard between 11 p.m. June 30 and 6:40 a.m. July 1. Forced entry was reported.

Money and property were taken from a vehicle in the 13100 block of Elsdale Court between 11:03 a.m. June 20 and 8:45 a.m. July 1. No forced entry was reported.

Vehicle thefts

A vehicle was taken from the 1800 block of East Jefferson Street between noon July 5 and noon July 6. No forced entry was reported. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked.

A vehicle was taken from the 5700 block of Denfield Road between 1:30 p.m. July 6 and 5:40 a.m. July 7. Entry was not known.

Silver Spring

Thefts from vehicles

Money and property were taken from multiple vehicles during the reporting period. Thefts occurred on East West Highway, Thayer Avenue, Cameron Street, Colesville Road, Castle Boulevard, Sugar Pine Court and Fairdale Terrace. Forced entry was reported in multiple events.

Property was taken from a vehicle in the 600 block of University Boulevard East between 3 p.m. June 28 and 3:09 p.m. July 1. No forced entry was reported.

Vehicle thefts

Seven vehicles were taken during the reporting period. Thefts occurred on Sligo and Northwood avenues, Colesville Road, Cedar Street, Heather Hollow Circle, Amsterdam Terrace and near Gracefield and Cherry Hill roads. Force was reported in two incidents.

Attempted armed carjacking

Someone displayed a weapon and demanded cash from an adult male in the parking lot area of the 11400 block of July Drive at 5 a.m. July 2. He then entered the victim’s vehicle and attempted to leave the area, but was unable to start the vehicle. The gunman then fled on a bicycle without obtaining cash or property.

Strong-arm robberies

Four people assaulted an adult male and took his property in the 8600 block of Colesville Road at 5:45 p.m. July 5. Police arrested three suspects.

Two people assaulted an adult male and took his property in the 8800 block of Georgia Avenue at 9:28 p.m. July 6.

Five people took a juvenile male’s money and property in the 800 block of Daleview Drive at 7:45 p.m. July 1.

Four people took property from a juvenile male in the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike at 9:20 p.m. July 2. One person implied he had a weapon.

Someone assaulted a juvenile male and took his property in the 11200 block of Lockwood Drive at 4:27 p.m. July 3.
