An instructor at the Renaissance Art Center was arrested on Monday and charged with sexually abusing two young boys, according to Montgomery County police.
After a month-long investigation, police arrested 30-year-old Gene Alphonse Brugada Pasay for allegedly making sexual gestures and showing two boys, ages 10 and 11, “inappropriate videos and photographs” during an art class at the Gaithersburg facility.
Police learned of the alleged abuse on June 4 and an investigation determined the inappropriate acts occurred between September 2018 and March 2019, according to a press release.
Police believe there may be additional victims and ask anyone with information to contact the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400.
Pasay was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor and is being held without bond, according to online court records. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for August 9. Attorney information was not available in online court records Tuesday evening.
According to an online profile listing Pasay’s professional experience and samples of art he has produced, Pasay also recently worked as a hockey coach at the Red Line Athletic Club in Rockville, as a staff member at the Wheaton Ice Arena and as a summer camp counselor at Wheaton Regional Park.
Pasay was born in the Philippines and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in 2014, according to the online profile.
