Two suspects in the burglary of a Rockville gun shop that left a teenager dead in mid-June have been indicted by grand juries, while state prosecutors have dropped charges against another suspect.
Mirakle Smith, 20, of Elkridge, was arrested June 14 and charged with accessory after the fact. Police said she drove a getaway SUV used after the heist.
Smith went to Montgomery County District Court on Friday for her scheduled preliminary hearing, unaware she had been indicted on Thursday, moving the case to Circuit Court. She is currently out on bond, wearing an ankle monitor.
Brandon Allen Jackson, 17, of Annapolis, was arrested June 14, along with Terrence Massey Jr., 21, of Annapolis, and a 15-year-old whose name was not released.
Jackson faces two burglary charges and a pair of firearm offenses, along with theft between $1,500 and $25,000.
He was indicted by a grand jury on June 27, resulting in his case also moving to county Circuit Court. Jackson is currently being held without bond.
Demico Henderon Jr., 18, of Glen Burnie, was arrested on June 25 and charged with second-degree burglary with the intent to steal a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor. Both charges have been dropped and he was released from a county detention center on July 3.
Massey was scheduled to appear in county District Court on Friday, but secured attorney representation and will instead appear on August 9 for a felony dismissal hearing. He faces two burglary charges and a firearm offense.
Massey has not been indicted as of Friday afternoon.
The suspects allegedly used a stolen car to smash into the Rockville shop, where they took more than two dozen guns and then hopped into a stolen SUV to flee the scene, police said.
While fleeing, the SUV struck a police cruiser, prompting an officer to fire on the vehicle, killing 17-year-old Marquis Weems, of Anne Arundel County, police said. Four others fled on foot to a waiting Smith, who drove them in a different SUV back to Annapolis.
Police in Montgomery and Howard counties have connected the heist to a similar theft from a gun shop in Laurel a day earlier.
