Bethesda Row Summer Sidewalk Sale—Friday through Sunday—Bethesda Row
Bethesda Row retail shops including Lilly Pulitzer and Kendra Scott, and restaurants including Modern Market Eatery and Terrain Cafe, will offer specials and samples from 12 to 3 p.m. Friday through Sunday. There will also be live music.
Ledisi—Friday night—Strathmore, North Bethesda
Grammy-nominated jazz and blues artist Ledisi Anibade Young will perform at 8 p.m. Friday night. The concert, Nina and Me, “is a beautifully orchestrated mixture of classical, jazz, and R&B sounds with riveting storytelling of the musical bond between an artist from one era influenced by a legend from the past,” according to the event website. Tickets are $92.50.
5 Year Anniversary Party—Saturday night—Denizens, Silver Spring
The brewery will hold a New Orleans-style party Saturday from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. to celebrate five years of business. Naptown Brass Band, Haus of Stone and DJ Kenny will perform. Patrons dressed in Mari Gras outfits will be entered for a chance to win free beer. There will also be a bead contest.
TGIF Downtown Street Party—Friday night—Downtown Silver Spring
Downtown Silver Spring is hosting an event that will include games, beer and sangria stations, and a live DJ. There will be dancing. The summer event series runs each second Friday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Singer Songwriter Showcase Concert—Saturday night—Arts Barn, Gaithersburg
The 35th annual Singer Songwriter Showcase Concert is Saturday night from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mid-Atlantic Song Contest winners will perform winning compositions and other original work. Tickets are $25.
“Stop Making Sense”—Saturday night—AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center, Silver Spring
The concert film will begin at 9 p.m. and features a 1984 concert of the seminal American rock band, The Talking Heads. General admission tickets are $13.
