EagleBank merges leadership with Eagle Bancorp Inc.
The Bethesda-based commercial banking company will consolidate its board with its parent company, Eagle Bancorp Inc. announced last week.
Four new directors will be added to the board, including three former Board of EagleBank members.
“We are pleased to enhance the strength of our Board by the addition of these four new Directors,” Eagle Bancorp Inc. Chairman of the Board Norman R. Pozez said in a statement. “Their participation under our new Board structure improves our ability to benefit from their particular expertise and skills at a higher level.”
The board restructure is the second major administrative move for the companies in the past two months, after the promotion of Susan Riel to president and CEO in early May. Riel had taken over in an interim capacity after the sudden resignation of founder and CEO Ronald Paul in late March.
The joining of operations was first reported by the Washington Business Journal, which spoke to an unnamed former employee of the company who said the change could signal a potential sale in the near future.

Brookside Gardens to celebrate 50th anniversary
The 50-acre garden within Wheaton Regional Park marks its golden anniversary with a public event on Friday, with guest speakers and a tour using an interactive story map.
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission approved plans for the original garden in 1965 and it opened four years later at half its current size.
The garden slowly grew over the last half-century, adding the Gude Garden and Japanese Tea House in 1972, a visitors center in 1998 and a state-of-the-art production greenhouse in 2016.
More than 400,000 people visit the garden annually, up from 35,000 when it first opened.
