County Council to discuss accessory dwelling units Tuesday
The Montgomery County Council will hold a work session at its meeting Tuesday morning on accessory dwelling units (ADUs), which are also called in-law apartments. The discussion will focus on legislation, proposed by Council Member Hans Riemer that would allow ADUs in three additional residential zones, while capping the size to 1,200 square feet or 10% of the size of the property. County Executive Marc Elrich has opposed the idea on the grounds that it could increase traffic, contribute to school crowding and create aesthetic problems such as additional storm water runoff. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the council’s Rockville chamber, located at 100 Maryland Ave.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and the center is located at 1700 April Lane.
