County police announced charges Friday against two more people they say played a role in the burglary of a Rockville gun shop that left a teenager dead earlier this month.
Demico Henderson Jr., 18, of Glen Burnie, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree burglary with the intent to steal a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor.
Mirakle Smith, 20, of Elkridge, was arrested June 14 and charged with accessory after the fact. Police said she drove a getaway SUV used after the heist.
The suspects used a car stolen from Anne Arundel County to smash into United Gun Shop on Randolph Road on June 13, then jumped into a stolen SUV to escape capture, according to police.
Police in Montgomery and Howard counties have connected the heist to a similar theft from a gun shop in Laurel a day earlier.
Brandon Allen Jackson, 17, Terrence Massey Jr., 21, and a 15-year-old whose name was not released, all of Anne Arundel County, were arrested June 14.
Officer John Gloss shot at the suspects’ initial getaway vehicle and killed 17-year-old Marquis Weems, of Anne Arundel County, police said.
Nearly two weeks after the first arrests, police charged Henderson. Detectives were able to connect him to the case through an anonymous tip, as well as a Louis Vuitton belt and buckle found along the route the suspects were known to have taken after the burglary, according to charging documents.
Henderson was observed on social media wearing the belt, and was also discovered to have communicated with Jackson shortly before and after the incident.
Henderson is charged as an adult, but was a minor during the burglary, so county police are not releasing his photograph according to department policy.
The four suspects ran after the run-in with Gloss, eventually getting into a dark-colored SUV near Old Drovers Way, according to charging documents.
Detectives learned the 15-year-old suspect called Smith shortly after the burglary, and that she was known to drive a black Ford SUV. State Motor Vehicle Association records revealed Smith was associated with a 2014 Ford Escape, which matched surveillance footage from the post-burglary pickup, according to charging documents.
Following her arrest, Smith admitted to driving to Rockville to pick up the suspects and take them to Annapolis, according to charging documents.
Henderson is being held without bond in a county detention center. Smith was released on bond. Online court records do not list an attorney for either individual as of Friday afternoon.
