County Board of Education to discuss contracts for capital projects

The Montgomery County Board of Education will discuss at its Monday night meeting, the awarding of several contracts for school capital improvements, such as new information technology equipment, broadband cables, new air conditioning units and school radio communications equipment. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the board’s Rockville headquarters,  850 Hungerford Drive.

County Council to approve two members to the planning board at Tuesday meeting

The Montgomery County Council is expected to vote Tuesday for the confirmation of two members of the county Planning Board at its Tuesday meeting from among seven candidates. One member will serve as the chair and another will fill a vacancy left by departing member Norman Dreyfuss. The five-member  board is responsible for advising the council on land use policy. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the council’s Rockville chambers, 100 Maryland Ave.

County to debut flex Ride On service Wednesday

Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation will launch its Flex microtransit pilot program Wednesday, in which riders will be able to request a bus using an application on their phone in the areas of Rockville and Wheaton/Glenmont. The bus will transport the riders to a Metro station or other public transit hub. Flex service will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Rockville zone, and from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Wheaton/Glenmont zone.

Department of Transportation to hold two open houses on bus rapid transit

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation will hold open houses on Wednesday and Thursday to provide the public with information on the county’s proposed bus rapid transit service along route 355, known as FLASH. Wednesday’s session will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg, 506 S. Frederick Ave. Thursday’s session will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center,  4805 Edgemoor Lane.
