Prosecutors may file more charges against man accused of planning terror attack at National Harbor

Prosectors in the case against a Montgomery County man accused of planning to run over pedestrians at National Harbor have indicated they intend to file more serious charges against the suspect. The suspect currently only faces one federal charge of driving a stolen vehicle across state lines. [WUSA9]

Police say mother told daughter who reported sex abuse to ‘shut up’

In January, a 13-year-old Silver Spring girl told county social workers one of her mother’s friends had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. When the child told her mother, she claims her mother hit her and told her to, “shut up,” according to police. [WJLA]

Washington-area residents could receive emergency alert test Saturday

Marylanders who travel into Washington D.C. or live close to the area may receive a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test on their cell phone Saturday in anticipation of the Independence Day celebrations. The test will be issued between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. [CBS Baltimore]
