Perez de Leon had a domestic-related argument with the victim, Silvia Elenia Fernandez, 33, at some point during the evening, police said. He then shot and killed Fernandez, authorities said.

Perez de Leon remained on the scene and was taken into custody, police said. A handgun was found near Fernandez.

Perez de Leon and Fernandez were living together in a basement apartment at the house, according to police.

Perez de Leon is being held in a county detention center without bond. Attorney information was not available in online records as of Wednesday morning.
