Rockville City Council to discuss future of RedGate golf course

The Rockville City Council Monday is scheduled to discuss the next steps for the site of theRedGate golf course , which closed in December. The mayor and council has recommended that the  site be used for a purpose other than golf, and options include converting the land into an arboretum, sports complex or outdoor music venue among other options. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall, at 111 Maryland Ave.

County Council to discuss accessory apartments

The Montgomery County Council will discuss a series of proposed zoning changes that would increase the number of accessory dwelling units, also called in-law apartments, allowed in the county at its meeting Tuesday. The proposal, put forward by council member Hans Riemer, has been opposed by County Executive Marc Elrich on the grounds that it would lead to increased traffic, school crowding and aesthetic problems. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the council’s Rockville office building, 100 Maryland Ave.

Planning Board to certify neighborhood school test report

The Montgomery County Planning Board will certify the results for the fiscal year 2020 school test on Thursday, which will become effective July 1. The school test measures whether new subdivisions in any school service area should be subject to a moratorium based on an estimated usage of school facilities. The board is scheduled to take up the issue in the afternoon portion of the meeting, which begins at 1:15 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Montgomery Regional Office auditorium in Silver Spring,  8787 Georgia Ave.
