Flower Child is set to arrive at Wildwood shopping center in Bethesda in July.
The fast-casual, vegetable-centric restaurant will open its second Montgomery County location at 10205 Old Georgetown Road on July 2 following the success of one at Travilah Square Shopping Center in Rockville.
“There’s a lot of families in the area, there’s schools nearby,” Flower Child Regional Manager of Restaurant Operations Jessica Mulroy said. “It’s a healthy, fit community. Flower Child’s model really works well in a neighborhood like that.”
Flower Child features farm-fresh ingredients used in dishes that are all made from scratch, along with a beverage program with juice options made with excess fruit and vegetables. The restaurant also has organic wine, Maryland beer, cold-brew coffee and a variety of lemonades.
Salads, wraps and bowls are $9 to $13, while plates are $9.50 and include a choice of two dishes, such as gluten-free macaroni and cheese along with sautéed broccoli. Chicken, steak and other proteins can be added for $5 to $7.
The sidewalk near the restaurant was extended and dotted with furniture “to create a place to hang out,” said Kari Glinski, director of asset management at Federal Realty Investment Trust, a real estate group that owns and operates Wildwood.
“It should be an environment where you feel comfortable to enjoy yourself, not just be rushed out,” Flower Child General Manager Chris Boitel said.
Boitel was the general manager at the Rockville location and will be moving to the same position at the Bethesda restaurant.
A parking lot with 42 spaces was also added beside Flower Child, part of Federal Realty’s $5 million investment in the property.
Flower Child will host a job fair at the restaurant from today through Saturday and June 17 to 22.
