A Pennsylvania man with a lengthy criminal record who was identified by Montgomery County police as the culprit in four SunTrust bank robberies earlier this year was found dead in a Hagerstown hotel room last week.

Shivi Brian Mohnani-Neil, 28, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, was to be charged with four counts of robbery for three incidents in Rockville and one in Cloverly between January and April, according to police.

County police had issued an arrest warrant for Mohnani-Neil at the time Hagerstown authorities found him first, dead in a hotel room. Police said no foul play was suspected.

Montgomery police say Mohnani-Neil took money and fled from the SunTrust bank at 14939 Shady Grove Road in Rockville, inside a Safeway grocery store, on Jan. 27, Feb. 3 and March 3, police said. He did the same at a SunTrust bank at 15411 New Hampshire Ave. in Cloverly, also inside a Safeway, on April 4.

On all four occasions, Mohnani-Neil approached a teller and displayed a note demanding cash, police said.

Mohnani-Neil is also believed to have committed additional robberies in Northern Virginia, police said.

Mohnani-Neil obtained several thousand dollars across the crime spree, county police spokesman Capt. Tom Jordan said. He declined to reveal the exact amount taken from the county banks.

Jordan also declined to detail how county police identified Mohnani-Neil as their suspect. Surveillance photos from the Cloverly robbery were released the day of the incident.
