County Council to interview planning board candidates Tuesday and Thursday 

The Montgomery County Council will interview candidates for the Montgomery County Planning Board at its meetings Tuesday and Thursday. There are seven candidates total, with two running for the chair position, including incumbent Casey Anderson, who is seeking a third term. Brandy Brooks, a civic activist with the group Progressive Maryland, is also running for the chair position. Five other candidates and Brooks are running for the seat being vacated by incumbent member Norman Dreyfuss, whose term is expiring. The interviews will be held at the council office building in Rockville, located at 101 Monroe Street.

School board to formally adopt budget at meeting Tuesday

The Montgomery County Board of education is scheduled to formally adopt its $2.68 billion fy20 operating budget for Montgomery County Public Schools at its meeting Tuesday. The County Council added an additional $18 million to the amount that County Executive Marc Elrich had originally budgeted. This is also $80 million higher than the fy 19 operating budget. The meeting begins at 11 a.m. at the board’s Rockville headquarters, located at 850 Hungerford Drive.

Elrich to appear at Montgomery County Taxpayers League meeting

County Executive Marc Elrich will answer questions at the June meeting of the Montgomery County Taxpayers League on Wednesday. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the council office building in Rockville, located at 101 Monroe Street.
