County teacher killed in apparent murder-suicide

Prince George’s County police found special education teacher Anika Browne, 46, shot to death in a Clinton home Monday night. Deceased suspect Gordon Johnson, 49, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the same bedroom. Johnson was Browne’s boyfriend. Browne taught at the Blair Ewing Center. [WJLA]

Gov. Hogan defends Beltway widening plan

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan complained about objectors to his plan in front of the Maryland Business for Responsive Government on Tuesday. The state Board of Public Works will vote on the plan Wednesday. [WTOP]

Monorail to be considered in I-270 toll lane study

Maryland Transportation Secretary Pete K. Rahn told proponents of the idea, led by county developer Robert Eisinger, an upcoming traffic relief study on the toll lanes will include a monorail. Rahn called the 27-mile monorail between Frederick and the Shady Grove Metro station “worth additional exploration.” [Washington Post]
