Presidential candidate from Potomac challenges Ocasio-Cortez on health coverage

John K. Delaney, who represented parts of the county as Maryland 6th District congressman, took on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) over healthcare at the California Democratic Party convention. “Medicare-for-all may sound good, but it’s actually not good policy nor is it good politics,” Delaney said. Ocasio-Cortez told Delaney to “please sashay away,” from the presidential race on Twitter. [Washington Post]

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the Calleva Farm off Martinsburg Road near Whites Ferry Road. The person hit a tree branch and got stuck. [WTOP]

Gaithersburg bio company earns $535 million contract

Emergent BioSolutions Inc. secured a 10-year agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response. The company will provide its treatment for complications from the smallpox vaccine. [Washington Business Journal]
