Rockville City Council will discuss strategies for attracting more young people
The Rockville City Council will discuss methods of engaging more millennials, residents in their 20s and 30s, in public life at their meeting Monday night. Millennials make up about one quarter of the city’s population according to the Census Bureau, and the council will review a number of proposed measures addressing this demographic’s needs such as creating more modern work spaces and establishing a citywide internship program in partnership with the University of Maryland. Rockville Planning Commission to hold forum on master plan
The Rockville Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday on the city’s 20-year comprehensive plan draft that will scope out the city’s vision for increasing density downtown near transit hubs and the town center, as well building more high density residential housing. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at city hall, located at 111 Maryland Ave.
County to hold forum on community policing Thursday
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and council member Will Jawando will host a public forum at John F. Kennedy High School in Wheaton on community policing to hear feedback on what the community hopes to see in the next police chief. Elrich has said the feedback from the forum will be used when making a selection for the county’s next permanent chief, who he expects to appoint by the end of the summer. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and the school is located at 1902 Randolph Road.
