Delina Eritrean Urban Kitchen it will close its doors after dinner on Friday, the restaurant announced in a social media post.

Delina opened at the former Heckman’s Deli location at 4914 Cordell Ave. in August 2018. Owner Abraham Melles purchased the space in May 2018 following the closing of the deli.

“Thank you to the community who embraced us so kindly,” read the restaurant’s Facebook post on May 23. “Wish the outcome could have been different, but it truly has been a great privilege and emotionally rewarding experience being a part of the community.”

Delina had a tapas-style menu, offering small plates for $5 or less, designed to encourage customers to try several dishes.

Melles did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The closing was first reported by blogger Robert Dyer.
