A Prince George’s County man sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl after he picked her up during a thunderstorm and drove to her Wheaton home, police said.
James Allen Booker, 59, of Upper Marlboro, was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree rape and a third-degree sex offense.
Police said the girl was walking home from school in the pouring rain May 23 when Booker drove alongside her and offered a ride, drove her to the house and parked.
Booker sexually assaulted her as they sat in the parked car, police said. The girl ran inside and told a parent about the encounter and the police were called.
Booker works in the Wheaton area and was arrested at his job. He is being held at a county detention center. Bond and attorney information were not available in online records Wednesday morning.
