Montgomery County Police announced Friday that they have arrested a New Jersey man after officers say he broke into a Laytonsville family’s home Tuesday and threatened to kill a child.
According to a press release from the department, Thomas S. Walton of Clifton, New Jersey, entered a home on the 6400 block of Sundown Road around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday where a man, a woman and a child were living. Walton, according to police, forced his way into the bedroom despite an attempt by the male resident to keep him out.
Police stated that Walton then entered the bathroom where the woman and child were hiding and said “I guess I have to kill a baby too,” at which point the male resident shoved Walton into the bathtub. The family then ran outside after police had arrived to the scene.
Walton was charged with three counts of burglary and two counts of malicious destruction of property. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville without bond.
