A Bethesda man who has provided music lessons to area children from his home was arrested Thursday and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Charles Victor Kopfstein-Penk, 74, was arrested at about 5 a.m. Thursday after state police served a search warrant at his home on Lone Oak Drive and recovered “several” electronic devices. A preliminary review of the devices “revealed the presence of child pornography files,” according to a media release issued by the Maryland State Police.
The state investigation began in February when investigators “discovered a person online actively pursuing the receipt” of child porn, according to police, and Kopfstein-Penk was identified as the suspect.
State police declined to comment further on the case.
A lawyer for Kopfstein-Penk was not listed in online court records Friday morning, and he remained in custody at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville.
