Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Coming to Bethesda

Restaurant will take former Community diner space

Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is coming to Bethesda and will move into the former Community diner location.

The space at 7776 Norfolk Ave. has been vacant since a burger restaurant that replaced the upscale diner closed in January 2018.

The Bethesda restaurant will be the 68th location for Anthony’s and the first in Maryland. The chains operates in eight states, primarily on the East Coast.

Construction crews are  working in the space, which is completely gutted save for one Community booth.

The Anthony’s menu features pizza, wings and “Italian Soul Food,” which includes meatballs, pork ribs and eggplant served family-style. The restaurant also has a daily lunch menu with pizza and sandwiches.

Pizzas range from $12 to $20 depending on size and toppings, with entrees falling on the pricier end of that spectrum. Lunch items are mostly between $5 and $10.

The 17-year-old company’s first restaurant opened by Anthony Bruno was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
