Elrich, Katz to hold business listening session Wednesday

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and Council Vice President Sidney Katz will host their fifth business listening session Wednesday in Silver Spring, aimed at hearing concerns from business owners about regulations, the permitting process, licensing and other issues. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Silver Spring Civic Center, located at One Veterans Place.

Montgomery House delegation to elect leaders Wednesday

Montgomery County’s 24-member House delegation in the state legislature will meet Wednesday to select its chair and vice chair for the upcoming year. The delegation is responsible for advocating for the county’s interests during the 90-day legislative session every year. Del. Marc Korman, a Bethesda Democrat, currently chairs the House delegation. Wednesday’s meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the 7th floor of the County Council’s Rockville office building, located at 100 Maryland Avenue.

Council to take final vote on budget Thursday

The Montgomery County Council is scheduled to take a final vote on the county’s $5.8 billion budget at its meeting Thursday. The final vote on the budget comes one week after the council narrowed a reconciliation, or wish list, of additional line items from $34 million to $16 million. The proposed budget was released by County Executive Marc Elrich on March 15. Thursday’s meeting will take place in the council’s Rockville chambers, located at 100 Maryland Avenue.
