Tractor-trailer crash in Bethesda halts traffic
All lanes on the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway before River Road in Bethesda were closed around 7:15 a.m. after multiple vehicles collided, including a tractor-trailer. One of the vehicles was on fire. Lanes reopened shortly after 9 a.m. but delays remain. [WTOP]

Trash pickup cost State Highway Administration $46 million in five years
Crews clean all 17,500 lane miles of state roads once every two weeks, gathering trash and sucking up sediment. The ABC7 team filmed one crew while it operated on Midcounty Highway in Gaithersburg on Thursday. “Litter is a huge issue statewide,” SHA spokeswoman Shannon Coyne said. “Imagine what we could be doing with that money.” [ABC7]
