DNA Match Links Silver Spring Man to 2017 Rape Case

County police file charges after weekend arrest

May 16, 2019 12:52 p.m.

A Montgomery County man was arrested Sunday after DNA evidence linked him to a December 2017 rape, police announced Wednesday.

Victor Jamar Killen, 26, of Silver Spring, was charged with first-degree rape, assault and kidnapping, the police said.

Detectives determined Killen and another suspect entered a vehicle wearing masks, pointed a weapon at the female passenger and covered her eyes, police said. The woman was then taken to an unknown location in the county, forced into an apartment complex and allegedly raped by Killen.

Following the rape, the woman was left at a Silver Spring shopping center.

Police recovered DNA from the scene and entered it into the FBI’s database, and in January 2019 the evidence showed a match for Killen.

County officers obtained an arrest warrant for Killen, and on Sunday he taken into custody by the Maryland Transportation Authority Police after a traffic stop at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Killen is being held in a county detention center without bond. Online records did not list an attorney as of Thursday morning.
