Police asking public for help identifying Silver Spring 7-Eleven thief
The man allegedly stole cigarettes from a 7-Eleven on Georgia Avenue April 25, then did the same at a Colesville Road 7-Eleven the following day. County police released surveillance photos of the suspect on Monday. The department recently announced the arrests of three men connected to a trio of 7-Eleven smash-and-grab robberies. [WUSA9]
County natural disaster team activated for drill
The 70-member Urban Search and Rescue Team, also referred to as Maryland Task Force 1, assembled in Rockville to prepare for an upcoming training mission. The unit will head to Frederick for a 14-day assignment, where they will carry out water rescues, search operations and other tasks to simulate real-life scenarios. [WTOP]

The county can’t currently provide Maryland birth certificate services and is advising residents to make requests online or in a neighboring jurisdiction. Birth certificate services first became available in the county in June 2016. [MC Media]
