A Coast Guard lieutenant from Silver Spring accused of stockpiling firearms and compiling a “hit list” of Democrats and journalists can be released from custody while awaiting trial, a federal judge ruled Tuesday.

New law leaves thousands of rape kits untested
A law requiring law enforcement agencies to submit qualified rape kits for testing within 30 days of receipt will become effective in January 2020, but it does not address the thousands of untested kits currently existing in the state today.
Montgomery County had an inventory of approximately 950 untested kits as of April 30, 2018. [Maryland Matters]
Tractor-trailer fire causes delays on I-270
A tractor-trailer fire Wednesday morning in the Gaithersburg area caused delays along the southbound lanes of Interstate 270.
The fire was reported at about 5 a.m. and crews remained on scene for several hours. [FOX 5]
