Appeals court rules that Montgomery pesticide ban is allowed

The Maryland Court of Special Appeals on Thursday overturned a 2017 lower court ruling that previously found that Montgomery County’s ban on some pesticides. The County Council passed the ban four years ago, which prevents the use of pesticides that are legal federally but are linked the cancer. The ban exempts agricultural areas and golf courses. Coalition of Montgomery and Prince George’s lawmakers ask for delay on Beltway, I-270 vote

A group of 36 lawmakers in the state legislature from Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties have signed a letter asking the state’s Board of Public Works to delay a vote next Wednesday on moving forward with Gov. Larry Hogan’s proposed widening of Interstate 270 and the Beltway, due to the absence of Treasurer Nancy Kopp. [Maryland Matters]
