Hogan pushes for a vote on Beltway, I-270 widening next week despite state treasurer’s absence
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is asking the state’s Board of Public Works to vote next week on his proposed toll lane expansion of the Beltway and Interstate 270, which is project to cost as much as in excess of $11 billion, which would use a public-private partnership model. State Treasurer Nancy Kopp (D), said she told Hogan back in November that she would be in Japan for her 50th anniversary. Hogan spokesman Michael Ricci said it was simply bad timing that the Department of Transportation submitted its proposal for a vote next week, and that there was “nothing nefarious.” Kopp, who lives near the Beltway in Bethesda, has said she would “probably vote down” on the proposal.
