Washington Redskins select local quarterback in first round
With the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Washington took quarterback Dwayne Haskins, a graduate of the Bullis School in Potomac. Haskins spent two seasons at Ohio State University and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2018. He will likely compete for the starting job with free agent acquisition Case Keenum and holdover Colt McCoy. [Washington Post]
Judge grants release of Silver Spring man accused of terror plot
Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Hasson, 50, remains detained but could be let go if attorneys agree to acceptable conditions. He’s accused of planning an attack on politicians and journalists, but has only received drug and gun charges, nothing connected to terrorism. [WTOP]
County government hosts dinner with religious leaders
About 20 rabbis, imams, ministers and others gathered in Rockville to celebrate unity following recent terrorist attacks on religious institutions. The event was organized by County Council Vice President Sidney Katz (D-District 3), who hopes to make it an annual tradition. [Washington Post]
