‘Mary Tyler Moore Show’ actress, Walter Johnson alum Georgia Engel dead at 70

Actress Georgia Engel, best known for playing Georgette Baxter on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” in the 1970s, died Friday in Princeton, New Jersey at age 70.

Engel, a five-time Emmy Award nominee was born in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Walter Johnson High School in the 1960s. [MCM]

WSSC seeks to halt Purple Line construction near ‘critical’ water main

Suburban Maryland’s water utility has asked state officials to “cease and desist” construction on part of the Purple Line that it says is too close to a major pipe that provides drinking water to Marylanders and would explode if broken. [Washington Post]

ANS to premiere history documentary April 25

The Audubon Naturalist Society will host the premiere of a new documentary, The Land of Woodend, on April 25, which covers Native American, African American, European American and Latino American experiences on the 40-acre property that’s been home to ANS for 50 years.

The documentary explores 400 years of history, mystery, beauty, blight, restoration and transformation on this diverse urban nature sanctuary. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. [ANS]
