Northwest Cluster to hold forum on school boundary study
Montgomery County Public Schools’ Northwest Cluster will hold a forum with the county Board of Education at 6 p.m. Monday at Northwest High School in Germantown. The discussion will focus on the school system’s yearlong boundary study, which has provoked controversy among parents who are worried about changing neighborhood school borders. Recent meetings have led to a series of racially-charged comments.
County sets information session on best business practices
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and County Council Vice President Sidney Katz will host information sessions Wednesday and Thursday on how to improve the regulatory climate for business leaders and stakeholders by streamlining aspects of county government such as the permitting process, licensing, inspections and other issues. The effort follows Elrich’s campaign promise to make county government more efficient. Wednesday’s session will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the council’s Rockville chambers. Thursday’s session will take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center.
First of five capital budget forums to begin April 22
Montgomery County’s citizen advisory boards will host the first of five forums on the proposed six-year Capital Improvements Program budget at 7 p.m. April 22 in the Silver Spring Civic Center. Residents will have an opportunity to give testimony to the local advisory boards, which will make recommendations to the County Council on which construction priorities should be funded in the CIP, which covers fiscal years 2021 through 2026.
