Tornado warnings expire, high winds expected Monday

An overnight tornado warning and tornado watch had been lifted for most of Maryland Monday morning as severe weather made its way out of the area, but high winds — with gusts up to 50 mph — are expected to continue throughout the day.

The storms left thousands in Maryland and Virginia without power early Monday. [WTOP]

Senators say no more Metro funding if buying Chinese rail cars

Moderate damage, but no injuries, were reported after a fire broke out at Krazy Steve’s restaurant in Silver Spring early Monday. [FOX 5]
